President Marcos has ordered the distribution of cash assistance to sari-sari stores affected by the implementation of the temporary price ceiling on rice. rice vendor.jpg Malacañang said on Sunday, Sept. 24, that the President directed the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to provide cash assistance to small rice retailers affected by the implementation of the mandated price ceiling on regular and well-milled rice in the country. According to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, P15,000 cash aid will be provided to the affected small rice retailers. he DSWD is set to distribute cash assistance to sari-sari store owners on Sept. 25 to 29. The department will work with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) which will identify the beneficiaries. Marcos approved the implementation of a P41 price ceiling on regular milled rice and P45 price cap on well-milled rice through the issuance of Executive Order No. 39. Based on its latest report, the DSWD said that it has already released P92.415 million worth of financial assistance to 6,161 out of the 8,390-target micro and small rice retailers affected by the implementation of the EO 39 nationwide.
