go to

enter email and strong master password
click red "Sign up..."

next, login to EDU email
usually https://outlook.office365.com/owa/

open new tab, go to

scroll down
enter EDU email
click "Send email"

go to the EDU email and check for email from LastPass

be sure to also check in "Junk email", "Clutter", or "Spam" if not in main Inbox
click "Click to redeem your 6 months..."

on the web page that opens
enter own email (or EDU mail, your choice)
click "Get 6 free months"

"Congratulations"

click "Log in"
login with the LastPass account you created
click "Security Dashboard"

look for "Free VPN..."
click red "Start VPN"

click "Accept"
