Reiki Science Basics is intended to introduce scientific translations and clinical research to credibly bring reiki into the medical setting.The objectives of this course are to:· Introduce and translate basic reiki concepts into conventional scientific terminology, including:o the function of the parasympathetic nervous systemo reiki anatomy and physiology· Explain how this translation can improve acceptance of reiki in the medical field· Explore available research to identify clinically significant benefits of reiki· Recognize limitations in current clinical studies to develop and encourage higher quality research· Understand the ethical considerations when making healing claims regarding reikiWe will explore concepts such as vagus nerve stimulation, the occurrence of touch as a form of healing throughout history, and whether reiki really should be used for every ailment.We will focus on the connection between the spiritual terminology "energy" and the medical understanding of biochemical reactions. This translation lays the groundwork for reiki's place in healthcare settings and in the field of medicine.To achieve this, we will begin with the history of Usui Reiki for context, discuss the occurrence of touch-related practices throughout the centuries, and then dive into the different sections of the nervous system. This will be followed by the chemistry of touch, an analysis of select clinical research, skills for interpreting quality research and finally a statement on ethics.
