BCXR28
Todays Verse:Both of them were righteous before God, living blamelessly according to all the commandments and regulations of the Lord. But they had no children because Elizabeth was barren, and both were getting on in years. - Luke 1: 6-7 In verses 4 & 5 of this chapter, Luke establishes the characters of Zechariah and Elizabeth as blameless, from an upright family, and well-liked. Something as fellow Christians we would aim for because it is pleasing to God and glorifies Him. But, despite the blameless and upright ways of Zechariah and Elizabeth, we see that they did not have a perfectly wonderful life. Elizabeth was barren, and they were growing old. Has there ever been a time in your life where you accomplished something and expected a certain outcome or blessing from God, but you didn’t get it? We don’t follow God and live an upright and blameless life to receive the blessings we think we deserve. We follow God and live an upright and blameless life to glorify our God. 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.” God has promised us certain things, and we can rest assured He will follow through. Today’s Prayer:Father, help us to always remember who You are, what You did, and why we follow and live for you. Christianity is not a feel-good religion. Sometimes it is extremely difficult, so we ask You to help us persevere and keep us focused on You. Amen.
